The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan pg 93- 187

Summary

After Percy's bathroom incident, he started receiveing more attension from the other campers at camp Half-Blood. At dinner, Choron makes the annoucment that the next capture the flag game will be this friday. During the capture the flag game was told to gaurd the river, which was the border of his team's side, and the other team's. After the beginning bell Clarisse and her brothers and sisters decide to take revenge on Percey, so they attack him while he is alone. In the begining of their battle, Percy is defenceless and is hurt realy badley. Percey then is knocked into the river where he starts to feel his energy back and gained enormous strenth and was able to defeat all of the children of Athen. After the battle Percey walked out of the water and felt weak again. After Annabeth told him to get back in the water, where he gained his strenth back and a symbol of a trident appeared over him which ment he was the son of Posidon. After they discover Percey is the som of Poseidon God of the Sea, he is given a quest to go find the stolen bolt of Zeus which was said to be stolen by Poseidon, and Zeus thought that Percy had done it.

Reaction

Roirdan continues to use imagery that forces the reader to imagine events that has never happen before. I like how he uses the history of the ancient Greek Gods, and twist it inorder to make events for the present day. Creating a conflict between Zeus and Poseidon deffinitly caught my attention and creates suspence for what is going to happen on later on in the story.
